James was educated at Harrison College and then University of Bristol in England, where he completed a Masters in Civil Engineering. On graduating, he worked in London for a management consulting firm advising financial companies on strategic decisions throughout Europe. He returned to Barbados in 2005 and joined the family construction company completing the lift bridge project in Bridgetown and the Coast Guard base to name a few. From construction, he moved into property development and successfully completed a range of both commercial and residential developments. He was recently one of the principals behind the Hyatt Hotel project on Carlisle Bay.
In his efforts to ensure entrepreneurs are supported throughout their journey, he became involved in the Trident Angel Invest Network. His vision is to see Barbados developed in an inclusive manner which will provide opportunities for anyone who is focused on the long-term sustainability of the island.
